Why Emergency Smile
In 2013, RED NOSES International developed the Emergency Smile programme, which has been implemented in multiple crisis settings around the world, including Greece, Italy and Türkiye.
People facing situations such as forced displacement and natural disasters often receive immediate aid for survival, but their mental health and wellbeing are frequently overlooked.
The RED NOSES Emergency Smile programme aims to improve the emotional health, wellbeing, and resilience of people living in crisis settings.
Changing lives with laughter
Your donation, their smile
Laughter holds transformative power.
Before RED NOSES clowns visit hospitals, nursing homes, or displacement camps, many individuals face loneliness, fear, isolation or mental health challenges.
But (laugh-)after the clowns visit, people experience a profound shift: renewed hope, joy, relief, and a deeper sense of connection.
Our safeguarding policy is stringent, and we never display the faces of children on our website, printed materials, or social media platforms. However, for this campaign, we aimed to convey the joy and happiness experienced by those who interact with RED NOSES clowns, without compromising their anonymity. To achieve this, the faces of the children shown are either blurred or AI-modified, ensuring their protection and dignity.
